Ravi Bopara is an English cricketer who has represented England in all three international formats. Entering his 20th year as a professional, Bopara is recognized as a genuine batting all-arounder known for his strokeplay and calm demeanor in the middle. A truly gifted batsmen who is capable of opening the innings or in the middle order whilst having the ability to excel in all formats of the game. Currently contracted to Sussex Cricket, Bopara will be focusing on the shorter format of the game where he has established himself as a modern great, amassing 8,633 runs and 259 wickets.

Bopara's professional career kicked off in May 2002 when he debuted for Essex at just 17 years old, spending nearly two decades as a cornerstone of the club. He truly emerged as a star in 2005, scoring 880 runs in first-class cricket, hitting his first century, and delivering a standout 135 against the legendary Australian Ashes side. While he has since moved to Sussex, his impact at Essex is indelible; he helped lead the team to several championships, most notably the 2017 and 2019 County Championships and the 2019 Twenty20 Cup.Twenty20 Cup (2019).

Following a brilliant domestic season in 2007, Bopara earned his first caps for England in both Test and ODI cricket. He made an immediate impact in the ODI arena, earning Man of the Match honors in only his second game against Sri Lanka for a sharp 52 off 53 balls. Over the course of his international tenure, he became a reliable fixture in England's ODI squad, earning 120 caps and consistently delivering game-changing performances. A historic milestone came in 2009 when he became only the fifth Englishman to score centuries in three consecutive Test matches. Despite these flashes of brilliance, his Test career was unfortunately hindered by a lack of consistent backing from the selection committee.ODI and Test debuts for England. In only his 2nd ODI match against Sri Lanka, Bopara was named man of the match for his 52 off 53 balls. Throughout his international career with England, Bopara was a staple within England’s ODI setup with 120 caps and delivered numerous match winning performances. In 2009 he became only the 5th Englishman to score 3 consecutive Test centuries. Sadly at Test level Bopara was not given the support from selectors to flourish the glimpses of excellence he showed.
