Evander Holyfield is willing to face Mike Tyson once more for a charitable cause

Boxing icons Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson may soon settle their score once again to raise money for charity. Although the schedule and venue haven't been announced, both fighters have been posting training updates on Instagram. Holyfield explicitly confirmed that he is getting back into fighting shape to support a charitable initiative. Now 57, Holyfield is open to completing a trilogy with 53-year-old Tyson, but he has put the ball in Tyson's court to organize the match.

The relationship between these two legends has always been complex. Recently, Mike Tyson declined a high-profile challenge from rugby player Sonny Bill Williams, which offered $3 million for COVID-19 relief, because the fight didn't adhere to boxing standards. Beyond Tyson, Holyfield has also expressed interest in a reunion fight with Riddick Bowe. While their Instagram activity has sparked massive anticipation among fans, there is still no official confirmation of a date. Their previous encounters are legendary: Holyfield won their first meeting, and the second ended in chaos when Tyson was disqualified for biting Holyfield's ear.

A third encounter would mark a historic trilogy for the heavyweight legends. The momentum started with Tyson sharing his workout routines and announcing his comeback, which was quickly mirrored by Holyfield in his own videos. In a conversation with the BBC, Holyfield explained that he is waiting for Tyson to initiate the fight to avoid appearing like a bully or overconfident about his chances of winning. He simply noted that if Tyson is ready to fight by the rules, he is more than happy to step back in and trade blows. As for their careers, Tyson hung up his gloves in 2005, while Holyfield continued boxing for another nine years.
