The Chennai Super Kings secured a comprehensive 63-run win over the Gujarat Titans at Chepauk, showcasing total dominance with both the bat and the ball. It was a statement win for CSK, their second of the season, and a historic low for GT, who suffered their largest-ever margin of defeat in terms of runs. With 206 runs to defend, the CSK pacers were relentless, stifling the GT batsmen and denying them any momentum. Through a clever mix of speeds and lengths, the bowling unit took consistent wickets to hold GT to a final score of 143/8.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) exhibited a clinical performance with both bat and ball to outclass Gujarat Titans (GT) by 63 runs in their fortress at Chepauk. CSK registered their second win of the season in a dominating fashion while GT suffered the biggest loss in terms of runs in the tournament’s history. Defending a huge 206, CSH pacers never allowed the GT batters to find their momentum or get into the rhythm. CSK pacers bowled exceptionally well, varying their length and pace to take regular wickets and eventually, restricted GT to 143/8.
Rachin Ravindra set the tone for CSK with a blistering opening spell, punishing the GT bowlers across the field. The left-handed opener was in peak form, scoring at a rapid strike rate of 230 and clearing the boundaries effortlessly; unfortunately, he missed out on a half-century, finishing with a sharp 46 off 20 deliveries. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the CSK captain, also played a vital role, recovering from an early scare in the first over against Sai Kishore to contribute 46 runs.
Shivam Dube brought immediate fireworks to the crease, launching two massive sixes right away and continuing to play high-impact shots. He and Daryl Mitchell put on a productive 57-run stand for the fourth wicket before Dube departed after a brilliant 51 off just 23 balls. Supported by an unbeaten 24 from Mitchell and a quick-fire 14 from Sameer Rizvi, CSK managed to post a daunting total of 206/6 in their 20 overs.
Gujarat Titans started their pursuit promisingly, with Wriddhiman Saha hitting four quick boundaries. However, Deepak Chahar shifted the momentum back to CSK by removing both GT skipper Shubman Gill (8) and Saha (21) in back-to-back overs. The pressure mounted further when a bowling change paid off; Daryl Mitchell dismissed Shankar (12) following a spectacular diving catch by MS Dhoni.
GT seemed to be recovering as Sai Sudharsan (37) and David Miller put together a 41-run partnership for the fourth wicket. The game flipped once more when Ajinkya Rahane pulled off a stunning front-diving catch to dismiss Miller for 21, a moment that effectively sealed GT's fate. Unable to find the boundary and losing wickets in quick succession, GT eventually collapsed.
