Mumbai Indians crushed Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator, powered by a stunning five-wicket performance from Akash Madhwal

Thanks to a phenomenal display of bowling by Akash Madhwal, the Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a commanding 81-run win over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator. MI now moves forward to face the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 2 on Friday, May 26, fighting for a place in the final. LSG's attempt to chase down 183 was a disaster from the start; they never found their footing and were bundled out for 101, with Madhwal stealing the show by claiming 5 wickets for a mere 5 runs.
Akash Madhwal produced a brilliant bowling effort, helping Mumbai Indians (MI) to crush Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 81 runs in the Eliminator. MI will take on defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 2 on May 26 (Friday) to earn a place in the summit clash. Chasing 183, LSG batters never found their momentum going and lost their wickets cheaply. Madhwal starred with figures of 5/5 in 3.3 overs as LGS was bowled out for 101.

After electing to bat first, MI stumbled early as openers Rohit Sharma (11) and Ishan Kishan (15) fell to Naveen-ul-Haq and Yash Thakur within the first few overs. The innings were rescued by a solid 66-run partnership between Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav. However, Naveen-ul-Haq struck again in the 11th over, dismissing both Green (41) and Suryakumar (33) to halt their momentum.

Tilak Verma added 26 and Tim David contributed 13 to the score. The innings ended on a high note with Nehal Wadhera smashing 23 runs off 12 deliveries, ensuring MI reached a defendable total of 182/8. On the bowling side for LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq was the most effective, picking up four wickets.

LSG's chase fell apart early when Madhwal and Chris Jordan quickly removed Prerak Mankad (3) and the dangerous Kyle Mayers (18). Although a 46-run partnership formed, Piyush Chawla broke it by dismissing Krunal Pandya (8). A tactical decision by the MI captain to bring Madhwal back into the attack paid off immediately, as the pacer took two more quick wickets to shatter LSG's hopes. Poor communication and running between the wickets further damaged Lucknow, leading to run-outs for top-scorer Marcus Stoinis (40), Deepak Hooda, and Krishnappa Gowtham. Ultimately, LSG was completely outclassed by MI.
