The Delhi Capitals' bowlers put on a masterclass at the Narendra Modi Stadium, handing the Gujarat Titans a stinging 6-wicket loss on their home turf. This lopsided result has seen DC climb to sixth in the points table. The pursuit of the target was simplified by Jake Fraser-McGurk’s aggressive 20-run blast from 10 balls, and captain Rishabh Pant ensured there were no surprises with an unbeaten 16 to wrap things up in 8.5 overs. Sandeep Warrier was the lone bright spot for GT, claiming two wickets.
Delhi Capitals’ (DC) bowlers produced a phenomenal performance to hand Gujarat Titans (GT) a humiliating 6-wicket defeat in front of their home crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium. With a one-sided win against GT, DC climbed to sixth position in the points table. Jake Fraser-McGurk’s blistering cameo, 10-ball 20 made the chase very easy for the visitors. DC skipper Rishabh Pant played an unbeaten 16-run knock to take his side home in just 8.5 overs. Sandeep Warrier took two wickets for GT.
Choosing to bowl first proved to be the right call for DC, as their pace attack ripped through the top order. Ishant Sharma successfully targeted GT captain Shubman Gill (8), and Mukesh Kumar quickly removed Wriddhiman Saha for 2. Sumit Kumar then showcased great athleticism in the field to get rid of Sai Sudharsan for 12. Adding to the pressure, Ishant used a deceptive ball to dismiss the powerful David Miller for just 2 runs.
Rishabh Pant's sharp glovework was pivotal in getting Abhinav Manohar (8) out via Tristan Stubbs. The lower order struggled, with Rahul Tewatia managing 10 and Shahrukh Khan departing for a golden duck. Only Rashid Khan stood out, top-scoring with 31 from 24 deliveries. Thanks to Mukesh Kumar's three-wicket haul, GT were bundled out for just 89—the lowest score they have ever recorded in the IPL, smashing their previous low of 125.
DC started their chase with an explosion of power, as Jake hit two boundaries and two sixes to rack up 25 runs in the first two overs. Supporting efforts came from Abishek Porel and Shai Hope, who contributed 15 and 19 runs respectively. Finally, Pant and Sumit (9*) put on a 25-run partnership to cruise across the finish line.
