Bangladesh's tour of India is in jeopardy following a press conference on Monday where captain Shakib Al Hasan announced a player boycott. The athletes are refusing to participate in any matches unless the board meets an 11-point set of demands. This protest, supported by about 50 players including stars like Shakib, Mahmudullah, and Mushfiqur, threatens the November 3 start date for a series consisting of three T20Is and two Test matches.
Bangladesh’s trip through India is in a difficult situation after Test and T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan, on Monday in a press conference, uncovered that the players will avoid participation in any cricketing exercises if their 11-point request isn’t met by the country’s board. Bangladesh are set to visit India for a 3rd match Twenty20 international arrangement and a two-Test arrangement, which starts on November 3. Though, the arrangement in India is currently under cloud following the remarkable stand taken by the Bangladesh players. The blacklist plan was reported by the nation’s top players, for example, Test and T20 commander Shakib, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur at a public interview in Dhaka. About 50 players are a piece of the dissent.
Starting November 3, Bangladesh was scheduled to compete in two Test matches and three T20 Internationals as part of the World Championship.
Representing the players, senior opener Tamim Iqbal pointed out the lack of fair pay for support staff, stating that local trainers, physios, coaches, and groundsmen deserve more respect and better monthly wages.
India has kept its distance, issuing a reserved response that labels the dispute as an internal BCB affair. This tension comes on the heels of a heavy loss to Afghanistan in a recent one-off Test. In response to that defeat, the BCB forced all BPL teams to field at least one leg-spinner, even going so far as to suspend two head coaches for ignoring the directive.
