A three-match Test series between England and the West Indies is planned to start on July 8th, 2020. Prior to the first ball, the West Indies team will arrive on June 9th and spend three weeks in quarantine. According to Steve Elworthy of the ECB, these measures are essential to guarantee a safe environment for all participants, including the players, staff, and media personnel.
The England and West Indies cricket teams will play 3 Test match series, beginning from, July 8th, 2020, but before that, when the Windies, reach England which is on June 9th, 2020, the cricketers will quarantine themselves for a period of 3 weeks before beginning the match. The England and Wales Cricket Board’s event director Steve Elworthy said the objective is to conduct match in a safe environment for the players, officials, operational staff, media, and few others.
Steve Elworthy stated that by following all government protocols and employing a professional medical team, the ECB can safely proceed with the matches behind closed doors. He also took a moment to thank the West Indies cricket board for their hard work and cooperation in organizing the tour, noting that the English pitches will provide a great competitive stage for both sides.
The series opens with the first Test at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from July 8th to 12th, followed by two matches at Manchester's Old Trafford (July 16th–20th and July 24th–28th). These specific venues were chosen to minimize travel for the teams and to make it easier to monitor and identify any potential COVID-19 symptoms quickly.
