Indian Premier League 2019 schedule: It was earlier reported that the IPL could be moved out of India if the dates of the month and a half long tournament clashed with the general elections.
he 12th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played from March 23, 2019 with the date for the final yet to be decided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).The cash-rich IPL will not be shifted out of India despite a possible clash with the 2019 general elections, which are expected to take place between April and May. Earlier, the IPL top brass had said that a final decision on the schedule will be taken only after the dates for the general elections were out.
It's worth noting that federal elections previously disrupted the schedule, leading the IPL to be hosted entirely outside India in 2009 and partially in the UAE during 2014.
There were suggestions to move the 2019 start date forward so players could recharge before the World Cup in England on May 30. This aligns with Justice Lodha's guidelines, which suggest a minimum 15-day break between the conclusion of the IPL and the Indian national team's next international match.
Looking back at 2018, the tournament started on April 7 and wrapped up on May 27 with the Chennai Super Kings taking home the trophy.
The BCCI announced that the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) convened in New Delhi this Tuesday to finalize the timing and locations for the VIVO IPL 2019.
Following initial talks with various state and central government bodies, it was decided that the 12th edition of this world-renowned T20 competition will indeed be held across India.
The current plan is for the VIVO IPL 2019 to begin on March 23, 2019, with a full, detailed calendar to be released after further coordination with the relevant authorities.
Before the official VIVO IPL 2019 schedule is made public, the COA intends to hold comprehensive discussions with all involved stakeholders.
