The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, will probably miss the home matches against Sri Lanka

Between January 3 and January 15, Sri Lanka will tour India for three T20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals. There are indications that Rohit Sharma, India's captain, will be unavailable for the series as he continues to recover from a thumb injury picked up in the second ODI against Bangladesh last December.
Sri Lanka will be touring India from January 3 to January 15 to play in a three-match T20I series and three ODI matches. According to reports, India captain Rohit Sharma is likely to miss the home series against the Lankans. The report stated that Rohit is yet to recover completely from the thumb injury he sustained during the second ODI against Bangladesh earlier in December.

It hasn't been a great year for Rohit with the bat, as he found it difficult to deliver the high-impact performances expected of him in major competitions. In Test cricket, he only managed 90 runs from two matches. His ODI record for the year shows 249 runs in eight games at an average of 41.50, with a top score of 76*. In the T20I format, he scored 656 runs across 29 innings, averaging 24.29 with a strike rate of 134.42 and a best of 72.

The squad could see the return of Deepak Chahar, Sanju Samson, and Shubman Gill. Specifically, Gill might step in for KL Rahul in the T20Is; Rahul is currently out of form and is also expected to take a break for his marriage.

Thanks to a string of three fifties in the Ranji Trophy, Sanju Samson is in peak form. Given Rishabh Pant's current struggles in limited-overs cricket, Samson is a strong candidate for the T20I squad. Additionally, Deepak Chahar, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, is likely to return for either the T20s or the ODIs.
