IMPRESSIVE JADEJA HITS BULLSEYE

Handscomb played the ball to point and tried to steal a run, but Jadeja was too quick. He swooped in and launched a rocket at the stumps, knocking them over. It's a massive breakthrough for India, and the match has suddenly swung in their favor.

20:15 hrs IST

AUSTRALIA FINDS OUT FOURS

Following a period of stagnation, Stoinis and Handscomb have managed to find the boundary twice in two overs to relieve some tension. To break this partnership, Kohli has turned to Shami for another spell.

20:03 hrs IST

REFRESHMENTS

The game is currently on a knife-edge as the players take a drinks break. Australia needs this partnership to survive much longer to stay in the hunt, while India must keep chipping away at the wickets to maintain their advantage.

19:53 hrs IST

INDIA OUGHT NOT DISCHARGE STRESS

The pressure is mounting, and you can tell Stoinis and Handscomb are feeling the heat. Kohli needs to be tactical now with his bowling rotations and field placements to force another mistake.

19:39 hrs IST

KULDEEP MAKES OUT MAXWELL

On a good length ball, Maxwell tried to pull it away, but the delivery held low, beat the bat, and smashed the stumps. This was exactly the wicket India were praying for; Kuldeep has come through for his team once again.

19:26 hrs IST

Taking Maxwell's wicket is a huge win for India.

Maxwell's explosive form in the T20s made him a major threat, and on this specific surface, removing him is key to putting Australia under serious pressure. That said, he looked comfortable and seemed determined to bat through the innings.

19:15 hrs IST

JADEJA ATTACKS

A length delivery turned back in toward the leg side and caught the glove of Shaun Marsh. MS Dhoni reacted sharply to complete the catch. The crowd is electric again—this is a vital wicket for the home side.

19:06 hrs IST

INCREDIBLE PERIOD FOR AUSTRALIA

For the most part, Marsh and Handscomb have been playing sensibly, rotating the strike and picking up singles to keep the scoreboard ticking. That's exactly the approach Australia needs right now.

18:50 hrs IST

EFFECT OF JADHAV HAS BEEN MASSIVE

Kedar Jadhav, though primarily known for his batting, has often stepped up with the ball during tight situations. His most memorable performance came against Pakistan in the 2018 Asia Cup, where he claimed three crucial wickets.

18:44 hrs IST

JADHAV HITS

A double blow for Australia! Kedar Jadhav strikes again. He bowled a full delivery that Khawaja tried to cut toward the on-side, but it took a leading edge and flew straight to Virat Kohli at mid-on.

18:39 hrs IST

KULDEEP EXECUTES

India's first breakthrough! Finch tried to clear Kuldeep, but the bowler delivered a full ball that nipped back in. The Australian captain was trapped LBW, and his review didn't save him.

18:22 hrs IST

POWERPLAY ENDS

Australia is currently cruising at 60 for no loss. They are in a commanding position, but Kohli will likely bring on his spinners and spread the field to try and trigger a collapse.

18:18 hrs IST

KHAWAJA LOOKING EXTRAORDINARY

Having scored a half-century in the previous match, he looks in great form today. Could he be the difference-maker in this chase? India will lean heavily on their spinners to break this opening stand early.

18:11 hrs IST

JADEJA BROUGHT IN

This surface seems tailor-made for Jadeja, and he's already making an impact. His ability to fire the ball in and get it to turn is posing a real threat. After surviving the pacers, this is the real test for Australia.

18:00 hrs IST

WAVE TURNING FOR FINCH?

While there haven't been many edges, the ball is definitely finding ways through. Is this the turnaround the Australian captain was hoping for after a difficult run of low scores this year?

17:52 HRS IST

EXTRAORDINARY START BY AUSTRALIA

Aaron Finch has looked exceptional in this spell, showing great confidence. Khawaja has also started strong; despite the ball nipping around, Australia has managed a very respectable start.

17:47 HRS IST

MATCH RECAP

Despite a brilliant century from Virat Kohli and a solid contribution from Vijay Shankar (46), India were all out for 250 in Tuesday's second ODI. Beyond those two, the batting lineup struggled to adapt to the conditions, leading to a quick collapse.

17:38 HRS IST

KHAWAJA, FINCH TO OPEN

Australia are now out in the middle, chasing a target of 251. With Usman Khawaja and Aaron Finch opening, the visitors' success depends heavily on this pair getting off to a strong start.

16:56 HRS IST

BUMRAH OUT

That seems to be it for India. Virat Kohli played a masterful innings, but the rest of the batting order—except for Vijay Shankar—failed to fire. On a pitch that didn't favor stroke play, 250 might be a subpar total. India now needs early wickets to let the spinners do their work.

16:53 HRS IST

KULDEEP CASTLED

It was a slower delivery aimed at the stumps. Kuldeep drifted too far inside the line and missed it completely, getting bowled as Australia continues to take wickets.

16:49 HRS IST

KOHLI OUT

Virat Kohli is gone! He played a shot off Cummins straight to Marcus Stoinis at square leg. Australia has made a fantastic comeback, and this wicket could have cost India 15-20 more runs.

16:46 HRS IST

KOHLI MOVING

Kuldeep needs to stay tight between the stumps. Kohli is looking for quick singles and trying to push the boundaries to keep the momentum going.

16:41 HRS IST

JADEJA OUT

On a slower ball outside off, Jadeja attempted a drive over mid-off but mistimed it. The ball flew to the fielder, who took a clean catch.

16:34 HRS IST

RECORDS IN PLENITUDE

Virat Kohli has converted his last six ODI half-centuries into hundreds when playing at home.

IMPRESSIVE JADEJA HITS BULLSEYE

20:15 hrs IST

AUSTRALIA FINDS OUT FOURS

Century for Kohli! A short, wide delivery was dispatched toward point. He raises his arms—his 40th ODI hundred is complete! Thanks to the captain's incredible knock, India can now aim for a competitive total.

20:03 hrs IST

REFRESHMENTS

Kohli tapped the ball to point and took off for a run, but Jadeja sent him back. He was left stranded mid-pitch, and although Maxwell missed the stumps, it was a risky piece of play!

19:53 hrs IST

INDIA OUGHT NOT DISCHARGE STRESS

The pitch is starting to turn more now, and Jadeja is looking dangerous. He's supporting Kohli, who remains in full control. These two need to maximize this partnership.

19:39 hrs IST

KULDEEP MAKES OUT MAXWELL

And then Dhoni departs. A length ball on off-stump saw Dhoni attempt a cut, but it was too close to his body. He edged it straight to first slip for a sharp catch. India is now in a precarious position.

19:26 hrs IST

19:15 hrs IST

A full delivery on off-stump saw Jadhav go for a drive, but he didn't get enough height on the shot. Finch took a comfortable catch at mid-on. Zampa celebrates as India lose two quick wickets, ending a promising stand.

JADEJA ATTACKS

19:06 hrs IST

Absolutely heartbreaking. Virat Kohli played a drive, but Zampa managed to get a fingertip to the ball, which then crashed into the stumps. Shankar was just short of his crease and can only look on in frustration. A massive break for Australia.

INCREDIBLE PERIOD FOR AUSTRALIA

18:50 hrs IST

The youngster is batting brilliantly, reading the lengths perfectly. Stoinis bowled one slightly short, which was exactly what Shankar wanted; he rocked back and smashed it for a four and then a six. Kohli looks pleased at the other end as this partnership builds momentum.

POWERPLAY ENDS

18:18 hrs IST

KHAWAJA LOOKING EXTRAORDINARY

The captain has been dominant from the very first ball and has now reached his 50th ODI half-century. As he continues to build this stand with Vijay Shankar, he remains the key to India's innings.

18:11 hrs IST

JADEJA BROUGHT IN

The team needs to let him play. Vijay Shankar has looked exceptional against both pace and spin today. This could turn into a career-defining innings for the young player.

18:00 hrs IST

WAVE TURNING FOR FINCH?

Lyon bowled a straight, determined delivery that beat Rayudu's defense. The ball hit the pads, and despite a review, the three red lights confirmed he was out. Rayudu heads back to the pavilion.

17:52 HRS IST

Australia has played a flawless stretch of cricket here.

Both Maxwell and Zampa are bowling incredibly tight lines, forcing the Indian batters to settle for singles just to keep the scoreboard moving.

EXTRAORDINARY START BY AUSTRALIA

17:47 HRS IST

Australia is closing in. They've removed the openers and kept the run rate under control. India's hopes now rest with Virat Kohli and Ambati Rayudu, the latter of whom is under constant pressure to prove his place in the team.

MATCH RECAP

17:38 HRS IST

On a length ball that nipped in, Dhawan tried to steer it through square leg but missed. The ball slammed into his pads. Initially given not out, Australia reviewed the decision and got the three red lights. A brilliant piece of captaincy from Australia to take the second wicket.

KHAWAJA, FINCH TO OPEN

16:56 HRS IST

Glenn Maxwell enters the attack. While the pitch is aiding the spinners, he's bowling traditional, tight lines and keeping the pressure on.

BUMRAH OUT

16:53 HRS IST

Overall, Kohli is dominating. He smashed a full delivery along the ground and followed it up by carving another full ball through mid-wicket. Nathan Coulter-Nile was left speechless—those shots were far too powerful to be stopped by the boundary ropes.

KULDEEP CASTLED

16:49 HRS IST

India suffers a quick setback. Rohit tried to go for an upper cut off an off-ball, but the extra bounce caught him off guard, leaving him with no control over the shot. Third man made a simple catch to wrap it up. A disastrous start for the Indian side.

KOHLI OUT

16:46 HRS IST

Today is a big day for Shikhar Dhawan, who is desperate to get some runs on the board. Meanwhile, Rohit needs to anchor the innings and play a substantial role. For Australia to gain momentum, they'll need to strike early, and Pat Cummins is starting things off with the new ball.

KOHLI MOVING

16:41 HRS IST

India's Starting XI: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (C), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (WK), Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Australia's Starting XI: Usman Khawaja, Aaron Finch (C), Shaun Marsh, Marcus Stonis, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Alex Carey (WK), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, and Adam Zampa.

JADEJA OUT

Aaron Finch won the toss and has elected to bowl first.

That's a shocking decision from Finch, especially considering the pitch looks like it's designed to offer plenty of turn.

Kohli commented: 'We actually expected to bat first, which would have been the obvious call. The surface is dry and there's barely any dew expected this evening. It's not your typical pitch and doesn't look like it'll have much bounce. However, we expect it to break up more as the game goes on. We've got a balanced squad, and we've discussed the need for the middle order to step up if the top three fail. We're just trying to read the conditions. It was a decent effort on our part, and in ideal circumstances, we can definitely build on that.'

16:34 HRS IST

RECORDS IN PLENITUDE

Sunil Gavaskar and Murali Kartik noted: 'This surface is a spinner's paradise. The dark soil and visible cracks make that clear. Whoever bats second is going to struggle as the pitch wears down. Scoring won't be easy and the boundaries are quite large, so we probably won't see many sixes. Given how dry the red soil is, bowling first is definitely the way to go today.'

Virat Kohli and his team are on the verge of a historic milestone in ODI cricket.

Heading into Tuesday's second ODI against Australia in Nagpur, India is just one victory away from hitting the 500-win mark in One-Day Internationals. If they succeed, they will become only the second team to reach this milestone, following in Australia's footsteps. Currently, India has 499 wins from 962 matches, while Australia leads with 558 wins from 923 games.
