The global tournament gets underway on October 3. After several players voiced worries about security owing to the ongoing political upheaval, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to move the worldwide competition—which was originally set to take place in Bangladesh—out of the nation.
The entire 23-match tournament will be hosted across two cities: Dubai and Sharjah. The group seeds remain unchanged, with India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and the reigning champions, Australia, all competing in Group A. Group B will feature South Africa, England, the West Indies, Scotland, and Bangladesh.
Each team will play four matches during the group phase. The two best teams from each group will move on to the semi-finals on October 17 and 18, with the championship match taking place in Dubai on October 20. Both the semis and the final have designated reserve days. India's first major challenge comes on October 4 against the Black Caps.
India's schedule continues with a game against Sri Lanka on October 9, wrapping up the group stage against Australia on October 13. Should they qualify, the Women in Blue will compete in the opening semi-final. It's worth noting that Scotland and Sri Lanka earned their spots in the tournament through the qualifiers held in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. Additionally, ten warm-up games are slated for September 28 through October 1 to help teams prepare.
