Kapil Dev warns Rishabh Pant against being overly aggressive with every ball during the England tour

Coming off a successful leadership role with the Delhi Capitals in the IPL, Rishabh Pant is focusing on the England tour. The itinerary begins with the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand on June 18 in Southampton, leading into a five-game Test series against England in August.

Having left a mark during the series in Australia, Rishabh Pant is slated as the main wicket-keeper for the tour. Former captain Kapil Dev is looking forward to seeing Pant make a significant impact during his second Test series on English soil.

In a conversation with Mid-Day, the legendary all-rounder pointed out that English pitches can be tricky, advising Pant to focus on occupying the crease rather than swinging for the fences on every delivery.

\"He has evolved into a mature player through his experience with the national team, and his shot selection and timing are truly remarkable,\" Dev remarked. \"But England is a tough nut to crack. He should focus on spending more time at the crease instead of trying to hit every ball.\" He further mentioned that Rohit Sharma has faced similar issues, getting out frequently after stepping out of the crease to play shots.

\"The same logic applies to Rishabh. He brings immense excitement and value to the team, but in my opinion, he just needs to be more patient before committing to his shots,\" Dev added.
