Virat Kohli to Captain India's Limited-Overs Teams for the West Indies Series

With the selectors preparing to unveil the rosters for the upcoming West Indies series this Thursday, Virat Kohli is confirmed for the T20I squad. Joining him are seasoned pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami, both of whom will feature in both the T20I and ODI lineups. The spin attack will be led by Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav; Chahal remains a staple after the Bangladesh series, while Yadav is welcomed back into the limited-overs fold.
Virat Kohli came back to India’s T20I side as the selectors are set to announce the limited-overs squads for the upcoming T20 International series against the West Indies team on Thursday. Indian fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami are also in T20I as well as ODI squads. The leg-spin pair of Yadav and Chahal also are included in both the squads. While Chahal also one of the players in the last T20I series in the match against Bangladesh, Yadav will make a return into the limited-overs side.

Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja has been recalled for both formats, stepping in as Hardik Pandya was omitted due to poor performances in recent series. Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey have also been named to both squads. Additionally, Shivam Dube retains his place following his T20I debut against Bangladesh, and Kedar Jadhav returns to the ODI squad after missing the last few series.

KL Rahul, who was overlooked for the ODI tour of South Africa, has been brought back by the selectors for the upcoming T20Is, providing him a fresh opportunity to cement his position in the team.

Among the fast bowlers who played against Bangladesh, Deepak Chahar is the only one to retain his spot in the T20I squad, a reward for his record-breaking bowling figures in the series finale. Conversely, Thakur and Khaleel, despite their contributions in the previous series, have been left out of the current selections.

Despite a lackluster performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been included in the squad. On a lighter note, Dhawan recently cheered up hospital staff during a visit for a minor injury, showing his characteristic spirit.
