Solid performances from KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav guide India to a win against South Africa

South Africa's innings got off to a disastrous start after they were sent in to bat. Deepak Chahar struck early, cleaning up Temba Bavuma for a duck with a sharp in-swinger. The pressure mounted in the following over as Arshdeep Singh dismissed Quinton de Kock for just 1, then left the visitors stunned by removing Rilee Rossouw and David Miller for ducks in back-to-back deliveries.

With Tristan Stubbs also falling to Chahar, the Proteas were in deep trouble at 9/5. Aiden Markram offered some fight with 25 runs, and Wayne Parnell added 24, but Keshav Maharaj was the standout, scoring a crucial 41 to help his team reach 106/8 by the end of their 20 overs. Arshdeep led the bowling attack with three wickets, supported by two wickets each from Chahar and Harshal.

In the second innings, South Africa's pace trio of Kagiso Rabada, Parnell, and Anrich Nortje capitalized on the spicy conditions in Thiruvananthapuram, knocking over Rohit Sharma (0) and Virat Kohli (3) early on. However, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav stepped up to stabilize the innings. They eventually shifted gears, hitting several impressive boundaries and sixes to seal a comfortable win. South Africa now looks to recover in the second T20I scheduled for October 2.
