According to the ICC men's T20I batting rankings updated on Wednesday, India's KL Rahul climbed three positions, while Virat Kohli dropped four spots to land at 8th.
India player Virat Kohli dropped four spots to eighth while his colleague KL Rahul climbed three openings in the most recent ICC men’s T20I Player Rankings for hitters, delivered on Wednesday.
Kohli's ranking suffered because he rarely got to the crease after the first two matches of the T20 World Cup. On the other hand, Rahul secured the 5th spot after scoring three fifties in his final three outings.
KL Rahul struggled early on against New Zealand and Pakistan, but he later dominated against Scotland, Namibia, and Afghanistan. Unfortunately, these strong performances came too late to prevent India's elimination during the Super 12 stage.
Aiden Markram has made a huge leap in the standings following his impressive run for South Africa in the current World Cup. After smashing an unbeaten 52 from just 25 deliveries in a win over England, Markram has jumped to 3rd in the T20I batting rankings.
Australia's bowling duo, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood, have also climbed the rankings. Their recent top-form was a key reason Australia successfully secured a spot in the World Cup semi-finals.
The Australian surge continued in the all-rounder category, with Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh both moving up. Maxwell rose three places to become the world No. 4, while Marsh jumped five spots to reach 9th.
Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka reached a career-best rating of 173, which propelled him up one spot to 3rd in the all-rounder rankings.
