Dafasports mentions that although Prithiv Shaw was included in the Indian squad for the fourth Test in England back in August, he didn't get the chance to play.
His international breakthrough came during the match against the West Indies, where he delivered a commanding performance, scoring a brilliant 134 runs from 154 balls.
Discussing his performance, Shaw explained that the timing of his entry into the game was a call for the coach and Virat Kohli to make, though he felt he was ready to play even during the England series.
While he started the match feeling anxious, he settled in around the 10th to 15th over. He played according to the strategy discussed with his team and his father, the person he dedicated his achievement to.
Shaw's 2018 has been exceptionally successful, kicking off with his captaincy of the India U-19 team during their World Cup win in New Zealand. This was followed by his entry into the IPL and a record-breaking debut century, making him the youngest Indian to do so.
He maintained a level head throughout the game, noting that his teammates went out of their way to make him feel welcome and comfortable.
After the first day's play concluded, Shaw admitted that the pressure of a Test debut initially made him nervous. However, after the first ten overs, he started finding the boundary with ease, and as his confidence grew, the pressure faded. He emphasized that he entered the game with a mindset to dominate the opposition, a style of play he thoroughly enjoys.
