Gautam Gambhir discusses the rare occasions MS Dhoni lost his temper during World Cups

Gautam Gambhir and Irfan Pathan, both former teammates of MS Dhoni, have opened up about times when the usually composed 'Captain Cool' let his emotions get the better of him.
MS Dhoni‘s former India teammates Gautam Gambhir and Irfan Pathan have recalled instances when the ‘Captain Cool’ ended up losing his temper.

Having played many matches under Dhoni's captaincy, including the landmark 2011 World Cup and the first-ever T20 World Cup, Gambhir points out that the public image of Dhoni as someone who never gets angry isn't entirely accurate. He recalls seeing Dhoni lose his cool during the 2007 World Cup and after poor performances in other major tournaments. Gambhir believes these reactions are perfectly normal, as Dhoni is human after all. He even mentioned that within the Chennai Super Kings setup, Dhoni doesn't hide his annoyance when a teammate drops a catch or makes a fielding error.

Gambhir concedes that Dhoni remains far more level-headed than most other captains. Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan recounted a specific incident from 2006-07 during a practice game where players had to bat with their non-dominant hand. Pathan mentioned that both he and Dhoni were so frustrated after being dismissed that they threw their bats, eager to stop the drill and start their serious training.

Brett Lee, the former Australian pace bowler, noted that it's very difficult to find an instance where Dhoni truly lost it. He believes Dhoni almost never goes too far or loses his professionalism, though he agrees with Gambhir that everyone has a breaking point because they are only human.
