Sourav Ganguly has been put forward as a candidate for the BCCI presidency.

Vinod Rai, leading the Supreme Court's Committee of Administrators (CoA), welcomed the news of Sourav Ganguly's nomination for BCCI President. He noted that having a seasoned former cricketer manage the board's affairs is an excellent development, highlighting Ganguly's proven track record with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
Stating happiness over former India captain Sourav Ganguly heading nomination for the President of BCCI, Supreme-Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai has said that a qualified player treating the affairs of the cricket body is a great development. Rai told “If Sourav Ganguly becomes the President then it’s very happy development. I mean former player and experienced person like him who handled the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), coming into cricket administration, is an excellent development.”

Speaking from the United States, Rai mentioned that he isn't concerned with previous disputes and is only looking ahead. He clarified that his current focus is solely on the nomination, stating that seeing Ganguly elected would be a wonderful outcome for the sport.

At the general meeting, the representatives will be split by region: Ganguly will stand for the Cricket Association of Bengal, while Sharma and Azharuddin will represent the Delhi & District and Hyderabad Cricket Associations, respectively.

When former captain Sourav Ganguly and his team visited the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Monday to file their nominations for various official roles, they were caught off guard to find that the Electoral Officer, N. Gopalaswami, was not present.

In a brief comment to IANS, one of the newly appointed officials mentioned that even the board's own executives were in the dark about why there was a delay.
