Sri Lanka managed to stun India in a thrilling Asia Cup match, clinching a 6-wicket victory in a nail-biter

At the Dubai International Stadium, Sri Lanka beat India by 6 wickets in a Super 4 encounter. To reach the target of 174, the Lankans relied on a key 64-run partnership for the fifth wicket, anchored by captain Dasun Shanaka (33*) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (25*). The foundation was laid earlier by the openers, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis, who both scored fifties. India's best bowling performance came from Yuzvendra Chahal, who claimed 3/34.

India's batting got off to a rocky start, losing KL Rahul and Virat Kohli early on. In particular, Dilshan Madushanka bowled Kohli for a duck with a sharp in-swinging ball. The team found some stability later when skipper Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav (34) put together a 97-run stand for the third wicket.

Thanks to a fast-paced half-century from Rohit, India had a chance to post a massive total, but the middle order couldn't build on that momentum as Sri Lanka took regular wickets. India ended their 20 overs at 173/8, with Rohit's 72 from 41 balls being the highest score. Sri Lanka's bowling was led by Madushanka with three wickets, supported by Karunaratne and Shanaka, who took two wickets each.

Sri Lanka began their pursuit of the target with a strong 97-run opening stand between Nissanka (52) and Mendis. India fought back briefly when Chahal took two wickets in a single over, and Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Danushka Gunathilaka for just 1 run to create tension. Despite the pressure, Sri Lanka kept their composure and hit the winning runs with just one ball remaining, with Mendis leading the way with 57 runs.
