With a score of 132 for 4 (Suryakumar 71*, Kishan 28, Tahir 2-33), Mumbai Indians defeated CSK (131 for 4; Rayudu 42*, Dhoni 37*, Rahul Chahar 2-14) by six wickets

Mumbai Indians have now swept their encounters with Chennai Super Kings this season, winning all three matches, including a victory at CSK's home stadium.

This feat is quite remarkable when you look at the numbers: all other IPL teams combined have only won ten times in 49 matches played at this venue.

Mumbai continued to dominate CSK psychologically, securing a comfortable six-wicket win on a pitch that turned sharply. While both teams utilized a three-pronged spin attack (leg-spin, off-spin, and left-arm orthodox), Mumbai's bowlers were the superior force. Although the batting conditions were tricky, CSK's total of 131 was underwhelming given they only lost four wickets. Suryakumar Yadav's composed 71* guided Mumbai to victory with over an over remaining.

Mumbai's strategy involved utilizing their spin trio heavily during the Powerplay, covering four of the first six overs and dismantling CSK's top order. Faf du Plessis managed a cut to backward point, but Suresh Raina and Shane Watson were dismissed while attempting to play against the spin on lengths that didn't suit them. On such a surface, scoring was only viable if the batsman could get ahead of the ball or if the bowler served up a very short delivery.
