The PCB confirmed this Wednesday that ten people linked to the upcoming tour of England have tested positive for COVID-19 following mandatory screenings.
Wasim Khan, the PCB's Chief Executive, noted that all 11 positive cases among the 35-person traveling party were asymptomatic before testing. The situation evolved quickly, starting with three positive results for Shadab Khan, Haider Ali, and Haris Rauf, followed by seven more the next day: Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Hasnain, and Kashif Bhatti. The list also includes Malang Ali from the support staff.
To stop the virus from spreading, those who tested positive are currently in self-isolation and are receiving antibody therapy until they test negative.
The PCB has mandated a second round of tests for all negative members. Those who remain negative twice will travel to England on June 28, where they will face another round of tests and a strict two-week quarantine with limited training access. Any players who recover and test negative can eventually catch up with the team.
