India began Day 4 at 289/3 and pushed forward behind a marathon effort from Kohli and a supportive 79 from Axar Patel. Together, they shared a decisive 162-run partnership that completely deflated the Australian bowlers. As the duo stayed together, the dream of a victory for Steve Smith's squad slowly slipped away. Additionally, KS Bharat contributed 44 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja added 28 before departing.
With this performance, Virat Kohli ended a long wait for a Test hundred that began back in November 2019.
