FC Goa climbed to the summit of the ISL table following a dominant 4-2 win against Mumbai City FC this past Thursday at the Mumbai Football Arena. The scoring opened in the 27th minute thanks to Lenny Rodrigues, and the visitors doubled their advantage right before halftime via Ferran Corominas. The second half started with a burst of goals; Mumbai attempted a rapid comeback with strikes from Golui in the 49th minute and Chakrabarti in the 55th, but Boumous soon responded in the 59th to put Goa back in front.
FC Goa came back to winning ways and moved to the highest point of the Indian Super League (ISL) table with a 4-2 win against Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena on Thursday. The goal feast started with Lenny Rodrigues giving Goa the lead in the 27th match. The guests multiplied their lead with a Ferran Corominas (45′) strike just before half-time. The second half scored three goals over the course of about ten minutes, with Mumbai City is balancing with brisk session through Golui (49′), Chakrabarti (55′) and later Boumous (59′) returning the visitors in lead.
Carlos added a final goal in the 89th minute to put the game completely out of reach for the hosts. This victory marks the second win for Sergio Lobera's squad, bringing their total to 8 points after four games, leaving Mumbai in fifth place with 4 points. While Mumbai started the match with high intensity to disrupt Goa's passing game, they struggled to create genuine openings or test goalkeeper Mohammed Nawaz.
This lack of clinical finishing gave the visitors the opening they needed. In the 27th minute, Brandon Fernandes delivered a corner that found Lenny; he had just enough space in the box to control the ball, turn, and slot it into the bottom left corner for his debut goal with the club. Mumbai responded by pressing high up the pitch, and a cross from Bipin Singh was flicked by Subhasish Bose toward Diego Carlos. However, the Brazilian striker hit the side-netting from a prime position, giving the Goan defense a lucky escape.
Right at halftime, Goa dismantled the Mumbai defense with a simple but effective passing sequence. Boumous played a ball behind Bose to Seriton Fernandes, whose cross into the center was clinicaly finished by Ferran Corominas for the Gaurs' second goal. Mumbai returned for the second half with renewed energy and struck back almost immediately. A left-sided corner from Mohammed Larbi found an unmarked Golui at the far post, who looped a header into the net. Shortly after, a cleared cross from Bipin fell to Raynier, who set up Chakrabarti for a precise strike into the bottom corner.
