Leicester City have advanced to the Europa League knockouts thanks to a dramatic late equalizer from Jamie Vardy. The Foxes displayed impressive grit throughout the match, recovering from three different goals conceded to Braga to ensure the game ended level.
Jamie Vardy scored a dramatic goal during the extra time of second-half to draw the match against Braga and send Leicester to Europa League’s knockout stage. The Foxes with a decent performance overall came from behind Braga three times to draw.
The scoring opened in the 4th minute with a goal for Braga from Ali Musrati, though Harvey Barnes managed to pull one back nine minutes later. However, the momentum shifted back to Braga in the 24th minute when Paulinho found the net.
Braga held a 2-1 lead going into the break, but the second half saw more swings in momentum. Luke Thomas leveled the game in the 78th minute, but Fransergio appeared to win it for the hosts in the dying seconds of regulation. With victory seemingly secured for Braga, Jamie Vardy produced a shock injury-time goal to deny them a home win and save the point for Leicester.
Because Zorya Luhansk dominated their match with a 3-0 win, a draw was sufficient for Leicester to progress. The Foxes entered the game with a rotated squad, likely feeling confident after their previous 4-0 demolition of Braga in the first leg.
Brendan Rogers' squad owes a huge debt to captain and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. His heroics kept Leicester in the game, specifically with four crucial saves—three to deny Paulinho and one to stop Horta—until the substitutes could make an impact.
For their part, Braga played well enough to earn a victory, especially considering their lead heading into the second half, if not for Vardy's opportunistic late strike.
The game shifted in Leicester's favor thanks to strategic substitutions by Brendan Rogers. The early introduction of Youri Tielemans and Wesley Fofana stabilized the team, while the later additions of James Maddison and Jamie Vardy provided the spark needed to snatch the draw in the final moments.
While another victory would have seen Leicester top the group, their dominant form throughout the campaign allows the manager to experiment with the lineup in the remaining two matches against lower-ranked opponents.
