Manchester United made a thumping win against the German club by 5-0 in this week’s Champions League match. The English club after starting this year’s campaign with two wins is now placed at top of their group table. Manchester United in the first group match defeated French giants Paris Saint-Germain. On Wednesday’s match, Marcus Rashford scored a second-half hat-trick to give his team a dominant win.

The breakthrough came in the first half via Marcus Greenwood, who slotted the ball into the far corner to give United the lead. The momentum shifted further in the 63rd minute when Marcus Rashford came off the bench and scored three times to dominate the game. A penalty successfully converted by Anthony Martial further extended the lead, putting United three points ahead of PSG in the standings.

The game started with a few missed opportunities; Luke Shaw had a shot stopped by Yussuf Poulsen, and Martial struggled to find Pogba inside the area. The breakthrough finally happened thanks to a great vision from Paul Pogba, whose midfield pass set up Greenwood. Greenwood's clinical movement into the penalty area allowed him to fire home a brilliant opening goal.

Leipzig players questioned if the opening goal was offside, but after a tense VAR review, the goal was upheld. Despite the early setback, Leipzig fought back and applied significant pressure on United for the remainder of the first half.

At the start of the second half, United pushed for a penalty after the ball struck Ibrahima Konate's arm, though VAR ultimately dismissed the claim. Meanwhile, David de Gea produced a vital save from a tight angle to deny Konate's effort from the far post. Although Leipzig attempted to change the game with substitutions, they were simply outclassed by a superior United side.

Rashford opened his account after receiving a brilliant pass from Bruno Fernandes, finishing clinically past Gilasci. While the linesman initially flagged for offside, a VAR intervention overturned the call, confirming the goal was legitimate.

Just four minutes later, Rashford struck again to make it 3-0. In a gesture of teamwork, he stepped aside to let Martial take the penalty, before eventually completing his impressive hat-trick during stoppage time.
