Current champion Max Verstappen discusses the future landscape of Formula 1

Max Verstappen recently cemented his dominance in Qatar by winning his third consecutive Formula One points championship. He also entered an elite group of drivers on October 22 after securing his 50th career victory, becoming just the fifth driver ever to do so. With the season winding down and four races to go, Verstappen is eyeing the records held by Sebastian Vettel (53 wins) and Alain Prost (51). Recently, he spoke about his latest title, the direction of the sport, and the strategic partnership his team maintains with ExxonMobil.
Max Verstappen won his third consecutive Formula One points championship a few weeks ago in Qatar. The Dutchman became a member of an exclusive club on October 22 when he won his 50th career Formula One race. Verstappen is the fifth driver in Formula One history to have 50 victories. With four races remaining, he might actually overtake Alain Prost (51) and Sebastian Vettel (53) this season. Verstappen opened up about his third consecutive Formula One championship, the future of F1, and his team’s partnership with ExxonMobil.

Despite the success, Verstappen is still hungry for more. He noted that while the season has been stellar, the drive to win persists for both him and his entire team. He admitted that 50 wins seemed like an impossible dream once, emphasizing that reaching such a milestone requires everything to align perfectly. He's eager to continue winning with his current squad, though he avoids setting rigid goals, choosing instead to let the journey unfold naturally.

Max believes that racing through the heart of Las Vegas will be an absolutely insane experience. While Formula 1 isn't new to the city, he thinks the spectacle of driving the Strip will be breathtaking. He expects a chaotic, high-energy weekend given how many people will want to be part of the event. While his primary focus remains on performance, the 26-year-old driver is excited about how stunning the race will look under the night lights.

Verstappen attributes his drive to his upbringing, recalling how he and his father trained rigorously from a young age. He possesses a mindset where anything less than 100% effort leads to self-dissatisfaction; even with the championship secured, he refuses to coast. His goal is to push his limits in every single race. He plans to remain in the sport until the day he looks in the mirror and realizes he can no longer give it his all, hoping that day is still several years away.

Reflecting on the global calendar, Verstappen noted that they race on almost every continent except Africa. He expressed a strong desire to see a Grand Prix held there, admitting that while finding a suitable location might be a challenge, it would be a fantastic addition to the schedule. Meanwhile, the F1 action continues this Sunday at the Mexico City Grand Prix.
