Kunlavut Vitidsarn dominated Kidambi Srikanth in their second Group-B clash, winning 21-18, 21-7 in a match that lasted only 46 minutes. This unexpected defeat leaves World No. 14 Srikanth struggling to keep his knockout stage ambitions alive. Vitidsarn, who has claimed the Junior World title three times, continues his psychological edge over the Indian player, marking this as their third consecutive head-to-head victory following wins at last year's Asia Team Championships and September's Sudirman Cup. Srikanth's last successful run to the knockouts in this tournament dates back to 2014.

The emerging Thai star relied on a near-perfect defensive strategy, leaving Srikanth with almost no room to attack. While Srikanth played with heart and determination, he lacked the necessary strategy to overcome Vitidsarn. The World No. 23 was in peak form, showing unwavering commitment from the start, including an early 5-2 lead in the opening game.

Maintaining his rhythm, Vitidsarn entered the break with a comfortable 11-6 advantage. Srikanth staged a fightback to bring the score to 13-15, but the Thai player responded by increasing the pace, extending his lead to 19-14 and eventually sealing the first game with a masterful performance.

The second game was entirely dominated by Vitidsarn, leaving Srikanth with no path to recovery. As Srikanth struggled to keep up, he committed a series of costly unforced errors. The match faced a brief interruption due to poor visibility on the court, and trailing 6-13, Srikanth never regained his flow. Vitidsarn capitalized on every mistake, scoring eight consecutive points to wrap up the match swiftly.

Currently, Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia leads Group-B with two points, while Vitidsarn and Srikanth are tied with one point each, both having one win and one loss. Looking ahead, Vitidsarn will face France's Toma Junior Popov, while Srikanth is scheduled to play Lee Zii Jia. The winner of these matchups will gain a significant advantage in securing a top-two spot for the knockout stage.
