India’s no.1 women shuttler PV Sindhu defeated China’s Yue Han in straight games 21-12, 21-15 to storm into the Asia Badminton Championships 2023. Sindhu was at her lethal best and produced a dominating performance to ease past Yue Han in just 33 minutes. The two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu will next take on second-seeded An Se Young to seal a spot in the semifinal. Fans are eagerly waiting for the exciting battle between the two top seeds as the 21-year-old South Korean has an impressive unbeaten record against the Indian in their five previous clashes.

Sindhu, currently ranked 11th in the world, dominated the first set with superb movement, coasting to a 21-11 win. The second set was more competitive, as China's Yue Han (world no. 8) stepped up her game and kept the score close through the break. Although they traded several long rallies, Yue Han was unable to convert her chances into points, allowing Sindhu to close out the match.

In the men's singles category, eighth seed HS Prannoy showed great resilience to beat Indonesia's Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo in a three-set thriller (21-16, 5-21, 21-18). On a disappointing note, former world number one Kidambi Srikanth was eliminated after losing 14-21, 22-20, 9-21 to the fourth-seeded Kodai Naraoka of Japan.
