Hamilton cements his legacy as the all-time leader with a historic 92nd win in Portugal

Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton cruised to his 92nd career win during a tough Portuguese Grand Prix this past Sunday. It was a victory he had been chasing for a while, and in doing so, the Mercedes star officially broke Michael Schumacher's long-standing record for the most wins in F1 history.
Lewis Hamilton the reigning world champion won his 92nd career win in a challenging Portuguese Grand Prix comfortably on Sunday. Hamilton with this has finally got the victory that he was so dearly looking forward to in a long time. The Silver Arrow driver created Formula 1 history by rewriting it as he now goes past Michael Schumacher’s record of the most race wins.

Starting from the pole position, Hamilton was quickly overtaken by his teammate, Valtteri Bottas, at the first corner of the first lap. Even more shocking was the surge of Carlos Sainz, who climbed from 7th on the grid to lead both Mercedes drivers momentarily.

Bottas managed to hold the lead for a few laps, but Hamilton eventually reclaimed the top spot. From that point on, Hamilton controlled the race until the end, crossing the finish line to become the most successful driver to ever compete in Formula 1.

Overwhelmed with emotion after the event, Hamilton confessed that he had only ever dreamed of reaching such heights. He added that he was struggling to find the right words and that the reality of the achievement would take time to sink in.

Hamilton secured his 8th victory of the season, finishing a comfortable 25.6 seconds ahead of Bottas and 34.5 seconds clear of Verstappen. This dominant performance pushed his championship lead over Bottas to a massive 77 points.

Immediately after the race, Hamilton celebrated the milestone with his engineers and mechanics. He shared a heartfelt moment with his father, Anthony Hamilton, who captured video of the celebrations on the podium as the crowd cheered.

At the previous event at the Nürburgring, Hamilton had tied Michael Schumacher's record of 91 wins. Additionally, he continues to lead in the number of different countries where he has won; with this victory in Portugal—the first GP the country has hosted in 24 years—his total rose to 24 different nations.

Since his breakthrough win in Montreal, Canada, back in 2007, Hamilton has maintained an incredible streak, winning at least one race every single season. As the world celebrates his flawless consistency, fans are eager to see how many more records he will shatter in the future.
