
Her track record is impressive: in 2013, she secured a bronze medal in the women's 52kg category at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Delhi, and that same year, she took home a silver medal in the 51kg division at a special tournament in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her success continued in 2014, where she won gold in the 48kg category at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, and later earned a bronze at the Asian Games in South Korea.
Vinesh's momentum carried into 2015, where she won a silver medal at the Asian Championships in Doha, Qatar. To qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics, she competed in Istanbul, Turkey, where she secured her spot by defeating Poland's Iwona Matkowska in the final match. Although she reached the quarter-finals in Rio, a knee injury unfortunately hindered her performance, leading to a loss against China's Sun Yanan. More recently, in 2018, she claimed another gold medal in the 50kg category at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
