Sam Curran, who was dropped for the third match for the against India, said that he was not trying to prove a point to the selectors during the course of his half-century knock in the first innings of the third test against India but was just playing the way he does for Surrey.

With England reeling at 86 for 6, Curran's contribution of 78 was pivotal in lifting the team to a respectable 246. This was his second fifty across four Tests, following up a strong showing at Edgbaston where he was named Player of the Match.

\"I was,\" he told the press after the game. \"It's hard to drop someone who has a century, and everyone is battling for a spot. While I was gutted to be out, I'm glad to be back. I wasn't trying to make a point; I was just playing freely and naturally. Missing out last week was unfortunate, but I'm absorbing a lot from the experienced players around me.\"

\"It was a real struggle,\" he remarked, noting that the ball was swinging heavily and consistently throughout the entire day.

\"I just focused on playing my own game. I love being part of the team, so I played without fear, staying positive and focusing on building partnerships rather than overthinking things. Fortunately, it worked out, and we managed to put a decent score on the board.\"

\"I have a passion for both batting and bowling, and I'm hoping to move up the batting order at Surrey. I really admire how Ben Stokes impacts the game, and that's the kind of influence I want to have. That's the dream for any all-rounder: delivering big results exactly when the team needs them most.\"
