Praveen Kumar continues to make headlines long after his playing days. Since retiring from ODI cricket, the former bowler has garnered more attention for his personal controversies than for his sporting achievements.
Indian ODI bowler Praveen Kumar does not seem to leave the limelight. After his recent retirement from cricket, he had attracted a lot of attention than he had faced in the cricket field.
A commotion broke out in Meerut last Saturday during Kumar's commute home. A local resident accused him of violent behavior, alleging that he was intoxicated at the time. In his defense, Kumar claims these allegations are a calculated move to ruin his political reputation.
The victim, Deepak, explained that he was accompanying his seven-year-old son at the Multan Nagar bus station when the incident occurred. He claims Praveen Kumar, driving past, began screaming at a bus driver. When Deepak intervened, he was reportedly attacked by Kumar, and the child was pushed over, leading to a broken arm.
Deepak also mentioned that the local Superintendent of Police failed to act on the complaint, allegedly because Kumar's fame as an international cricketer made the local authorities hesitant to intervene without orders from higher officials.
The right-arm seamer has a history of similar allegations, including a 2008 incident where he was accused of assaulting a doctor while still playing professionally. During a subsequent interview, he avoided a direct answer and deflected the questions by focusing on his political career.
