Bangladesh players are preparing for a possible Test series in Sri Lanka this October. The three-match encounter was originally set for earlier this year but was derailed by the COVID-19 outbreak. The opportunity to reschedule arose after the ICC postponed the T20 World Cup, opening up a slot in the international schedule. Reports suggest that both national boards are very interested in the series, and if everything goes according to plan, it will take place in October.
After months of discussion, the ICC decided to postpone the T20 World Cup in Australia. This shifted the timeline for the Test series, which was first intended for July and August under the ICC World Test Championship. BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury mentioned that the cancellation of other international events gave them the necessary opening to schedule these Tests, and they are now focused on determining a viable date.
Chowdhury confirmed that both the BCB and SLC are keen on moving forward with the series before the end of the year. He also pointed out that Sri Lanka has handled the pandemic better than many of its neighbors, making the BCB more comfortable with an away series right now than hosting games at home.
