Steve Smith claims the No. 1 spot in Test batting rankings, displacing Virat Kohli

In the 2020 ICC Test rankings, Australian batter Steven Peter Devereux Smith has secured the top position, leaving India's captain Virat Kohli in second. Looking at the broader top ten, India is well-represented with four players total (including the captain), Australia has three, and New Zealand, Pakistan, and England each have one representative.

With a score of 911 points, Steven Peter Smith has returned to the top of the rankings for the eighth time since June 2015. Kane Williamson of New Zealand, who spent eight days at the top in December, has dropped to third place with 853 points. Virat Kohli fell to second with 906 points after struggling in his most recent Test match against New Zealand, scoring just 2 and 19 runs. The bottom of the top ten is occupied by India's Ajinkya Rahane (8th), Cheteshwar Pujara (9th), and Mayank Agarwal (10th).

Regarding the 2020 ICC Test bowling rankings, Pat Cummins of Australia leads the pack with 904 points. Ravichandran Ashwin is the sole Indian representative in the top ten, sitting at 9th place with 765 points, while Jasprit Bumrah narrowly missed the cut in 11th with 756 points. New Zealand's Neil Wagner maintains his 2nd place position with 843 points, and Tim Southee remains in 6th with 794 points.
