India's T20I and ODI squads for the tour of Sri Lanka have been officially announced by the BCCI.

On Thursday, the BCCI announced a change in leadership for the T20I team, with Suryakumar Yadav stepping in as captain to succeed Rohit Sharma. Having just led the team to T20 World Cup glory, Rohit is now returning to the ODI format for the series in Sri Lanka, alongside Virat Kohli.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the passing of the captaincy torch at the Indian camp on Thursday, with star batter Suryakumar Yadav succeeding Rohit Sharma as the new T20I captain. Rohit Sharma, fresh from leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup, will return to ODIs for the series against Sri Lanka. At the same time, Virat Kohli will also return to the fifty-over format.

Suryakumar has prior experience leading the T20I side, having stepped up during the South Africa series when Rohit Sharma was unavailable due to the heavy ODI World Cup schedule. To manage workloads, the team's primary fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has been rested for this tour. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has been named vice-captain for both the T20 and ODI series, and Sanju Samson has also been included in the overall white-ball squad.

The T20I squad for the Sri Lankan tour features Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top, along with Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, and all-rounder Shivam Dube. Interestingly, Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad were left out of the T20I side despite their impressive form against Zimbabwe. As for the bowling attack, Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel are back in the T20 fold, while Khaleel Ahmed, Washington Sundar, and Ravi Bishnoi remain in the team following their performances in Zimbabwe.

KL Rahul continues to be a part of the squad, and Rishabh Pant makes his return to the ODI format. Shreyas Iyer also earns a spot—a reward for his strong IPL campaign and Ranji Trophy form, coming after he was dropped from the BCCI's central contracts earlier this year. Additionally, Riyan Parag receives his first-ever call-up to the ODI side, while the bowling department is bolstered by Harshit Rana, Khaleel, and Arshdeep Singh.
