A Special General Meeting of the BCCI is set for May 29 to decide the status of the T20 World Cup being held in India.

To prepare for the upcoming ICC meeting on June 1, the BCCI has called for a virtual SGM on May 29. The primary goal of this session is to deliberate on the possibility of India hosting the T20 World Cup, with officials aiming to establish a clear path forward for the event scheduled for October and November.

According to a BCCI source, nine venues have already been notified. The current directive is to keep the preparations moving while remaining vigilant about Covid-19 risks, noting that a final decision will only be made as the tournament draws closer. Given the ongoing pandemic, the board admits it is premature to be certain about the situation in late 2020, but they insist that groundwork must continue.

During the last Apex Council session, state associations were specifically told to proceed with their planned preparations for the T20 World Cup without interruption.

When questioned about the agenda, a source revealed that the SGM will cover more than just the T20 World Cup. In addition to the hosting logistics, the board plans to have detailed conversations regarding the international cricket schedule and the development of women's cricket.
