Since making his international debut in 2016, Bumrah has spearheaded the Indian fast-bowling attack in every format and has become one of the team's most successful wicket-takers. However, he had to step away from the game in 2019 to deal with a serious back injury.
He rejoined the team in early 2020 and played for several months before the pandemic forced a hiatus on professional cricket. During that time, Bumrah kept his skills sharp by practicing in the nets at the Gujarat College ground.
Once cricket returned post-lockdown, Bumrah has been active both with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL and with the national team in Test and ODI series.
