Sourav Ganguly, President of the BCCI, approves the introduction of Day-Night Test Matches

Led by President Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI has proposed using a pink ball for the second match of the forthcoming two-Test series, with captain Virat Kohli on board. The BCB is now seeking the necessary approval from its players and board officials.

According to the BCCI President, this marks the beginning of a special era for cricket in India. He noted that it is the responsibility of the newly appointed officials and the Apex Council to drive the sport forward. Speaking from his dual perspective as a former captain and current President, Ganguly highlighted that Test cricket remains a top priority and the BCCI will do everything possible to restore its prominence.

The BCB has officially agreed to play the second Test against India at Eden Gardens under lights. This will be a landmark occasion, as it's the first Day-Night Test for both teams. Sourav Ganguly was the driving force behind this decision, urging the BCB to utilize floodlights to boost fan attendance and engagement.

Last Thursday in Mumbai, Sourav Ganguly met with Virat Kohli for the first time since taking office as BCCI President. Interestingly, the Indian team had previously been hesitant about the Day-Night format, having earlier stepped back from plans to play a pink-ball Test in Adelaide.

India and Bangladesh will have a tight window of just two days between the matches in Indore and Kolkata to get used to the pink ball.
