The Delhi Capitals displayed great composure to survive a tense finish and defeat RCB by just one run

The Delhi Capitals maintained their nerve during a high-stakes clash on Sunday night, ultimately beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by a razor-thin margin of 1 run. RCB's pursuit of 182 began promisingly thanks to a steady start from Sophie Molineux and Ellyse Perry. DC managed to regain control by taking several quick wickets, but Richa Ghosh kept the game alive with a dynamic 51-run cameo from 29 deliveries. The match came down to the final over with 17 runs to play for; Ghosh nearly clinched it with two huge sixes. With a mere 2 runs needed off the final delivery, the game ended abruptly when Shafali Verma's exceptional fielding resulted in Ghosh's dismissal.
Delhi Capitals (DC) players kept their composure and cool to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 1 run in a nail-biting thriller on Sunday night. Chasing a gritty 182, Sophie Molineux and Ellyse Perry held the fort by giving a fine start to RCB. But DC bounced back with a few quick wickets. However, Richa Ghosh’s superb cameo of 29-ball 51 kept RCB in the hunt. Needing 17 runs in the final over, Ghosh smashed two huge sixes that almost took RCB home, and with just 2 runs needed in the final delivery, Ghosh failed to score it as Shafali Verma dismissed her with brilliant work on the field.

DC set the tone early with a strong opening stand of 54 runs in the powerplay, courtesy of captain Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma. While Lanning relied on finesse and precise shots, Shafali took a more aggressive approach to clear the boundaries. Looking for a breakthrough, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana turned to Sobhana Asha, who successfully dismissed Shafali for 23. The pressure continued in the following over as Shreyanka Patil cleaned up the Orange Cap holder, Meg Lanning (29), with a well-executed LBW.

The momentum shifted back to DC as Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey built a dominant 97-run stand, ensuring a competitive total. Jemimah was particularly explosive, racing to a fifty in just 26 balls—the second fastest half-century in WPL history—and finishing with 58. Capsey contributed a vital 48 before her dismissal. Despite a tight final over from Shreyanka Patil that gave away only 5 runs, DC posted a formidable 181/5 after 20 overs.

RCB's chase stumbled early when Alice Capsey removed Smriti Mandhana in the second over. Sophie Molineux and Ellyse Perry eventually found their flow, putting together an 80-run partnership for the second wicket. This stand was broken by a brilliant piece of fielding from Shikha Pandey, who ran out Perry for 49. Molineux contributed 33 and Sophie Devine added 26, but the DC bowling attack remained resolute under pressure to secure a stunning victory.
