Although chasing 119 felt tense at first, a strong partnership between skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (33) and the youthful Richa Ghosh (44*) ensured victory. Deepti Sharma set the tone earlier in the game with a three-wicket haul.
After choosing to bat, the West Indies lost captain Hayley Matthews for only 2 runs early on. However, the momentum shifted when Stafanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle launched a counter-attack, smashing a 73-run stand that troubled the Indian bowlers. India responded sharply, however, triggering a collapse by taking three wickets for just three runs.
The West Indies found themselves in a tight spot at 79/4 after 15 overs, but late efforts from Chedean Nation (21) and Shabika Gajnabi (15) helped them reach a respectable 118/6.
