The Gujarat Titans showed great composure in their chase against the Rajasthan Royals, winning by seven wickets to advance to the IPL 2022 final. Chasing 189, the newcomers stayed ahead of the rate thanks to a fiery 68* from David Miller and a crucial 40* from Hardik Pandya, finishing the game with three balls left. Miller provided the fireworks at the end, ending the match in spectacular fashion with three sixes in a row.
Having won the toss and chosen to field, Gujarat Titans got off to a flying start when Yash Dayal dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for only 3. However, the momentum swung back to Rajasthan as Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson put together an elegant 68-run stand, although Samson missed out on a half-century.
Devdutt Padikkal played a cautious role, adding 28 runs before Hardik Pandya cleaned him up. While Shimron Hetmyer is usually a threat in the closing overs, he couldn't get going in this game. This left the heavy lifting to Jos Buttler, whose brilliant 89 off 56 balls pushed the Rajasthan Royals to a total of 188/6.
The chase began poorly for the Titans as Trent Boult took the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha for zero. Nevertheless, Shubman Gill and Matthew Wade recovered well, building a sturdy 72-run partnership. The stand ended abruptly when Gill was involved in a clumsy run-out and Wade was dismissed via a stunning catch by Buttler.
David Miller and Hardik Pandya then took control, stitching together an unbeaten 106-run partnership for the fourth wicket in just 61 balls. Miller closed the chapter emphatically, easily scoring the final 17 runs needed in the last over to secure a stunning victory.
