South Africa actually started the match on a high, leaving India reeling at 39/3 thanks to Rabada and Nortje. However, a monumental 267-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane turned the tide of the game. Rohit Sharma was the star of the series, recording his maiden Test double century. After moving to the top of the order for the Test format, he showed incredible consistency by scoring centuries in the opening game and dominating the play in Ranchi.
Shami turned the game further in India's favor, dismissing Hamza for a duck with a brilliant delivery that hit the stumps. The lead pacer didn't stop there, taking the vital wicket of du Plessis and seeing Temba Bavuma depart for zero.
