It was a treat to cricket lovers as everyone witnessed a sensational end to an edge-on-the-seat thriller between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). Jos Butler’s scintillating knock of 60-ball 107 helped RR to pull off the highest successful run chase in IPL history, reaching the target of 224 in the final ball of the match to delight the fans. The England opener registered his seventh IPL century surpassing great Chris Gayle who had six under his belt. Rovman Powell’s cameo, 13-ball 26 was crucial for RR’s success.

The innings began promisingly for KKR, as Phil Salt and Sunil Narine raced to 21 runs in the first few overs. The momentum slowed briefly when Avesh Khan caught Salt for 10, but Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi quickly took charge, playing aggressively to keep the scoreboard ticking. Their partnership yielded 85 runs before Kuldeep Sen provided the much-needed breakthrough by getting Raghuvanshi out for 30.

Despite the collapse of other key players, including Shreyas Iyer (11) and Andre Russell (13), Sunil Narine continued his aggressive assault on the bowlers, eventually reaching a stylish maiden IPL century. He was finally sent back by Trent Boult after a hard-fought battle, finishing with an incredible 109. A late burst of 20 runs from Rinku Singh helped propel KKR to a competitive total of 223/6.

RR got off to a flyer thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hammered three boundaries and a six before falling for 19. Things looked bleak for RR when Harshit Rana quickly removed both Sanju Samson (12) and Riyan Parag (34). KKR further tightened their grip by using a DRS review to dismiss Dhruv Jurel, and Varun Chakaravarthy nearly derailed the chase with two wickets in two balls. However, a resilient 57-run stand between Jos Buttler and Rovman Powell brought RR back into contention.

Butler took complete control in the closing stages, smashing four sixes and two fours over the final three overs to secure a one-man victory for RR.
