Former Indian pacer remarks that there are far too many ridiculous occurrences in Indian cricket lately

Everyone is feeling the disappointment over Jalaj Saxena's absence from the South-Zone team for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. Despite his stellar performance as the leading wicket-taker in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy, the Madhya Pradesh spinner was surprisingly left off the list. This has sparked a significant backlash on social media, with many cricket enthusiasts and former pros questioning the selection process, including former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad.
The omission of Madhya Pradesh spinner Jalaj Saxena from the South-Zone team for the upcoming Duleep Trophy has left everyone disappointed. Despite being the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season, Saxena was overlooked for the domestic event. Many fans and former Indian cricketers have expressed their thoughts on social media as it sparked a debate regarding his exclusion. Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad also joined the debate and mocked the selection process.

Venkatesh Prasad heavily criticized the Indian cricket administration, describing the decision to drop Saxena as both perplexing and laughable. He suggested that the current management's choices are becoming a source of ridicule.

Prasad expressed his frustration on Twitter, arguing that failing to select the Ranji Trophy's top wicket-taker for even a zonal team is mind-boggling. He claimed that such decisions essentially strip the Ranji Trophy of its value and called the situation shameful.

The 36-year-old spinner shared his shock and disappointment online. Saxena pointed out that he was the most successful bowler in the Ranji Trophy (Elite Group) yet was still omitted from the Duleep Trophy. He asked if there was any historical precedent for such a snub in Indian domestic cricket, clarifying that he was seeking information rather than casting blame.

During the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy, the right-arm off-spinner was in peak form, taking 50 wickets across seven games while playing for Kerala. His stats were impressive, featuring six five-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket matches, maintaining a strong average of 19.26. With 410 total wickets across 133 first-class matches, his experience is vast. The Duleep Trophy is scheduled to kick off on June 28, 2023.
