In the first qualifier of the tournament, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 57 runs. With this, MI has made it to the finals making it the sixth time for them. Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose bowling. Mumbai Indians scored 200 for 5 wickets. In reply, Delhi was able to score only 143 runs for 8 wickets.
MI's batting was led by Suryakumar Yadav's 51 and Quinton De Kock's 40, while Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 55 and Hardik Pandya added 37*. The duo effectively closed the innings with a rapid, undefeated 60-run partnership over the last 23 deliveries.
Delhi's bowling attack saw Ashwin take 3 wickets, the best performance for the team, whereas Anrich Nortje proved costly, giving away 50 runs in just 4 overs.
Delhi's chase got off to a disastrous start. In a nightmare opening over, Bolt dismissed both Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane, and shortly after, Bumrah removed Shikhar Dhawan, leaving the top order in shambles without a single run on the board.
The collapse continued as Bumrah quickly dismissed captain Shreyas Iyer for 12, while Rishabh Pant once again failed to deliver a significant score.
There were brief moments of hope when Marcus Stoinis smashed three sixes in one over from Chahar, and Axar Patel kept things interesting with two big hits off Kieron Pollard. However, these efforts were futile; Bumrah eventually ended Stoinis's 65-run fight (which included six fours and three sixes) and also claimed Daniel Sams in the same over. Axar Patel was finally dismissed in the closing over after scoring 42.
