Velocity secured a five-wicket win over the Supernovas this past Wednesday during the opening game of the third Women’s T20 Challenge. It was a close chase; the Supernovas set a target of 127, which Velocity barely reached with only one ball left in the game. Sune Luus was the standout performer, finishing unbeaten with 37 runs and taking home the ‘Player of the Match’ trophy. The effort was supported by Sushma Verma’s 34, Veda Krishnamurthy’s 29, and Shaifali Verma’s 17. For the Supernovas, Ayabonga Khaka was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav, and Sasikala Sirivardhane each took one.

The Supernovas finished their innings with 126 runs for 8 wickets, headlined by Chamari Atapattu's 44 and Harmanpreet Kaur's 31, with Sasikala Sirivardhane adding 18 and Priya Punia contributing 11. Velocity's defense was spearheaded by Ekta Bisht, who claimed three wickets, supported by Jahanara Alam and Leigh Kasparek, who took two wickets each.
Velocity maintained strong momentum in the final five overs, racking up 53 runs at an average of 10.60. The tension peaked in the 19th over when Sushma Verma was out on the fifth delivery; she had played a vital role, scoring 34 runs that included two big sixes. Ultimately, it was Sune Luus who stayed composed to guide Velocity to the win. Velocity will now turn their attention to their next match in the Women’s T20 Challenge against the Trailblazers.
