According to ESPN Cricinfo, the Royals are planning to keep three of their top capped players: Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag.

There are indications that the Royals might let go of big names like Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal. This would be a bold move, as Buttler has been a powerhouse with six centuries for the team, and Chahal is the second-highest wicket-taker in franchise history with 66 scalps in just three seasons. However, the team likely plans to use their 'Right to Match' cards to try and bring them back during the auction.

The team is also reportedly weighing whether to keep wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, with the deadline fast approaching. Since being picked up for just 20 lakhs in the 2022 auction, Jurel has become a mainstay in the lineup and even earned a Test debut for India against England this year. His ability to blast runs from the lower order—scoring 347 runs at a strike rate of over 151—has made him a favorite among the coaching staff.

Meanwhile, the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, are struggling to trim their list down to just five or six players. While there was a lot of buzz about Harshit Rana being their primary uncapped retention, it seems that might not be the case.

Cricbuzz reports that Ramandeep Singh is actually the one likely to be retained as the uncapped player, contradicting earlier rumors about Harshit Rana. In fact, it appears KKR will keep four players in total, and Rana isn't among them.

Ramandeep was a key factor in KKR's 2024 championship run, providing explosive finishes from the number 7 or 8 spot with 125 runs at a strike rate of 201. Beyond his batting, his elite fielding and occasional bowling made him invaluable, earning him a maiden call-up to the Indian squad for the upcoming South Africa series.

KKR's retention list is expected to feature Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, and Ramandeep Singh. Interestingly, while Shreyas Iyer and the management were in talks, his high salary expectations have reportedly pushed KKR to look elsewhere. Andre Russell is also expected to enter the auction pool.

Royals Set to Hold Onto Samson, Jaiswal, and Parag

With the IPL 2025 auction approaching, all teams are required to finalize their lists of retained and released players by Thursday, October 31. The Rajasthan Royals are garnering significant interest because of the formidable squad they've assembled over the last few years. It looks like the former champions have settled on their strategy, which means some big names might be heading out while a core group stays put. According to ESPN Cricinfo, Rajasthan plans to keep three capped stars: Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. They are also keeping Sandeep Sharma as their uncapped player. Although Sandeep has played for India before, his last appearance was back in 2014; since the rules state that anyone who hasn't played for the national team in over five years counts as uncapped, he fits the criteria. Choosing to retain these four players will cost the Royals Rs 47 crore from their total auction purse. The latest reports indicate that the team is ready...
