The Delhi Capitals secured a dramatic 4-run win over the Gujarat Titans at Arun Jaitley Stadium, with their bowlers showing great grit to hold the line. While this victory moves DC up to sixth place, it adds to the pressure for GT. Chasing a daunting target of 225, Sai Sudharsan kept GT's hopes alive with a brisk 65 from 29 deliveries. David Miller also put up a fight with a rapid 55 off 23 balls, but he couldn't find the winning runs as Mukesh Kumar successfully defended 19 runs in the deciding final over.
Delhi Capitals (DC) bowlers held their nerves to bowl brilliantly and secure an emphatic 4-run win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in a thriller of game at Arun Jaitley Stadium. With this win, DC creeps up to sixth position on the table. On the other hand, things have gotten a bit more challenging for GT with this narrow defeat. Chasing a big 225, Sai Sudharsan played a fine knock of 29-ball 65 to keep GT in the hunt. David Miller’s valiant knock of 23-ball 55 went in vain as Mukesh Kumar successfully defended 19 runs in the final over.
After being asked to bat first, DC came out swinging, led by Jake Fraser-McGurk's aggressive start. The young Australian hit two fours and two sixes, racking up 35 runs in his first 3 overs. Gujarat fought back in the 4th over via Sandeep Warrier, who took two wickets with the help of Noor Ahmed's impressive fielding on the boundary to remove openers Fraser-McGurk (23) and Prithvi Shaw (11). Warrier then struck again in his next over, claiming Shai Hope for 5 after Rashid Khan took a brilliant catch on the run.
The momentum shifted back to DC when Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant put together a crucial 113-run stand. Axar played a steady, calculated role, scoring 66, while Pant took complete control of the game. The captain played a masterful unbeaten 88, hitting 5 fours and 8 sixes to propel DC to 224/4. To top it off, Tristan Stubbs added a quick 26 runs from just 7 deliveries to inflate the total.
GT's chase got off to a rocky start with captain Shubman Gill falling early for 6. However, Wriddhiman Saha (39) and Sai Sudharsan helped recover, sharing an 82-run partnership for the second wicket. Contributions from Azmatullah Omarzai and Shahrukh Khan were lacking, leaving the heavy lifting to the lower order. After Miller was dismissed, Rashid Khan fought until the very last delivery, but his 21-run cameo wasn't enough to bridge the gap for victory.
