Emerging talent names CSK as his dream team ahead of the IPL mega auction

Deepak Hooda has made it clear that he would love to be led by MS Dhoni at the Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2022. Having spent the previous couple of seasons with Punjab Kings, he is now a free agent. His chances of securing a lucrative deal at the mega auction have improved significantly, following his selection for the Indian ODI series against the West Indies.

Speaking openly about his preferences, the 26-year-old all-rounder called CSK his 'personal favorite' and expressed a strong desire to work under Dhoni's captaincy. That said, his current focus remains on proving himself on the international stage during the upcoming ODIs against the Windies.

The right-arm off-break bowler is a huge admirer of MS Dhoni, citing the captain's leadership as a major inspiration. Hooda revealed that he has picked Dhoni's brain on multiple occasions, receiving tactical tips and insights to help elevate his playing level. While he has been included in India's T20I setups previously, he is still waiting for his first official cap.

He is now looking forward to finally making his international debut in the next ODI series. Reflecting on his growth, Hooda noted that the past two years have been a period of significant maturity for him, largely thanks to the mentorship of Punjab Kings' head coach, Anil Kumble. He credited Kumble for teaching him how to manage high-pressure situations and for providing a clear blueprint for his role on the field. India is scheduled to begin their battle against the West Indies on February 6th.
