David Miller played a fine cameo of unbeaten 31 runs towards the end and took his side home with 11 balls to spare.
Choosing to bowl first, GT started aggressively with Mohammed Shami striking early to remove Prithvi Shaw (7) and Mitchell Marsh (4) during the powerplay. The pressure mounted in the 9th over as Alzarri Joseph broke David Warner's (37) rhythm and then stunned the opposition by dismissing Rilee Rossouw on the very first ball he faced.
Sarfaraz Khan (30) and Abishek Porel (20) managed to put up some resistance with a 34-run stand, but Rashid Khan's exceptional bowling soon ended both their stays. Thanks to a late surge of 36 runs from Axar Patel, DC managed to reach 162/8 in their 20 overs. Both Rashid and Shami were instrumental, picking up three wickets each.
In the second half, GT's openers Wriddhiman Saha (14) and Shubman Gill (14) looked promising with a few aggressive strokes. However, Anrich Nortje turned the tide, bowling out both openers in back-to-back overs. Khaleel Ahmed added to the pressure by removing captain Hardik Pandya (5) on the final ball of the powerplay. The game shifted back in GT's favor when Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar (29) put together a crucial 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Sudharsan's composure earned him the Player of the Match award.
